A simple project where the client wanted to improve the all year interest in an existing dull border and remove a small area of lawn to reduce maintenance. The existing planting was selectively thinned, the lawn was stripped of turf and excavated to accommodate the new gravel path. The border was reshaped to be more pleasing to the eye and edged with a timber gravel board. Finally the bed was redesigned, the soil improved and cultivate and ultimately planted with a mixture of shrubs and herbaceous perennials. At the end of one growing season the transformation was complete.
